It does not eliminate bias, uncertainty, or poor judgment—it often redistributes or amplifies them. Moreover, as decision-making becomes embedded in opaque, multi-layered systems, issues of accountability, explainability, and control become increasingly difficult to address.

Perhaps the most important insight is that AI does not operate at the level of individual decisions, but at the level of decision systems. Outcomes are shaped not just by models, but by the entire pipeline—from data selection and feature engineering to deployment, monitoring, and governance. As a result, organizations that focus solely on model performance miss the broader determinants of success.
